The South’s Oldest Rivalry will see its 112th chapter this Saturday in Chapel Hill when (North) Carolina takes on the University of Virginia. It’s doubtful the game will lie up to its lofty title, though. Both (North) Carolina and Virginia come into the game with one win and one loss. The Tar Heels picked up their win against Football-Championship-Subdivision James Madison. The Cavaliers got theirs against the closest thing to a FCS team the FBS has to offer, Duke. (North) Carolina and Virginia seem to be jostling for fourth place in the Coastal Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference; the loser will, in all likelihood, be relegated to fifth, just ahead of those boys from Durham. (North) Carolina seems to have the edge in this game based on the two teams previous performances. UNC kept its loss to East Carolina close, losing only on a last-second field goal. Virginia has struggled to put points on the board this year, scoring only 27 points in its first two games. They also suffered an embarrassing 20-point loss at Wyoming in week one. This doesn’t bode well for their chances this Saturday. (North) Carolina should pick up a convincing, yet unimpressive second victory.
The Real Carolina(s) Prediction: (North) Carolina 31, Virginia 17
